The Virgin Islands has some of the biggest versatile artist coming up in the industry. We had the honor of learning more about " Vi Vibez " who happens to be straight from the islands. Take a look below and find out what we discovered.
What’s your stage name and how did you come up with it?
I was given the name because I'm from the Virgin Islands, that gave off great vibez. Put them together and you have Vi Vibez.
What got you into music?
What got into music was my mother playing all the old school feel good music around the house. Did my 1st talent show in 6th grade with back up singers for a song called "Different Color One People" by Lucky Dube. From there everyone told me I have a unique voice.
What was life like growing up?
Life growing up was at a fast pace because mom died when I was 16 after I moved to Atlanta. Later I got emancipated because me and my dad had different views of life. I had my own apartment at 17 and going to Chamblee High while working to pay bills but still graduate. The rough streets of the old Atlanta gave me the knowledge I needed.
What is the name of the current single/ep/album that you
are pushing? Do you prefer people to buy it or stream? And
why?
The new single is pressure and I will love folks to buy it and stream it as well. The more data of possible income the better.
With the industry changing so much, would you stay indie or
sign to a label? Why and why not?
Well it all depends on my leverage at the moment as far as independent or label.
If you were give a chance to sit down and have a business
dinner with a celebrity who would it be and why?
Rick Ross would be the celebrity because Ross always dropping knowledge on elevating life.
Tell me about your most memorable moment in your career?
My most memorable was meeting Dougie E Fresh and his dad at a v103.3 cars show. Soaked up some great knowledge.
What are you currently working on and what is next for you?
I'm currently working on my video shoot for "Pressure" in Miami on 8/11 to 8/14.
When it comes to fashion, whats your dressing style ?
I have unorthodox style of dress, still keeping 90s with a twist but no skinny jeans for me.
Any funny stories or an embarrassing moments you want to
share with our readers?
My most funny story was when I performed my song "Wet Wet" at Magic City. Had a bunch of ones to throw while performing but I threw the whole thing and it hit the stripper in her back, I wasn't an expert on that.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
My message to my fans is stay dedicated and never five on your dreams.
